About Us

Mortgage by Design is a family run business and was established in 2003 as we felt there was a distinct lack of truly impartial mortgage & insurance advice in the area. We also realised the advice clients were looking for was only part of the service they really needed. To make a real difference to people in the house buying process, our aim is to offer an outstanding level of customer service and ongoing support right up to when they move in.

We opened our premises in Church Street, Market Harborough in 2005, and since then we have helped hundred’s of local people through this often stressful process. We recognise the need to try and alleviate this as much as possible.

We derive a great deal of satisfaction when we receive “thank you” cards and people come back to use our services again & again.

The Team

Andrew Walker

Andrew started with Midland Bank in London in 1976 and has been in the financial services industry ever since including 20 years at Legal & General as a financial adviser and business manager.

In addition to the expertise he brings to the business he makes sure that our clients and business contacts receive the highest level of professionalism whatever the relationship with us.

Outside of work he enjoys horse riding, golf, cricket, reading and music but not necessarily all at the same time !!

Sara Walker

Sara started working for the Derbyshire Building Society in 1983 and has worked in the financial services industry ever since. This included 10 years of running her own successful mortgage broking business.

Since joining forces with Andrew her focus is now to apply her considerable knowledge built up over this time, in administering the cases not just through to a successful conclusion but also making sure you are kept up to date with the progress from start to finish.

We know from our client’s feedback that they value this part of the process extremely highly.

We do not normally charge a fee for mortgage advice, however this will
be dependent on your circumstances. If a fee is charged our typical fee
is £99.
